We are pleased to inform you that we have released on X-Plane.org the part. 1 of our Antarctica Mesh Scenery “Antarctica4XPlane” and dozens of Research Base Station sceneries. This first part covers substantially the Antarctic Peninsula from the South Orkney Islands down to -73 ° S and many other areas will follow: those interested can download it for free starting from our website (we recommend to follow our website to stay up to date on the release of the mesh and sceneries of the Bases and you can find too a link to the first Bases Sceneries).
We (Maps2XPlane) created this 2x4K Planet Map as an Replacement for the Default X-Plane Planet Map, because of our Antarctica4XPlane project and the fact, that the Default Planet Map doesn’t cover -besides other regions- the Antarctic Continent. Our Replacement is derived from The Blue Marble Next Generation (BMNG) published by the NASA Earth Observatory.
Installation is simple: Extract the downloaded file and choose either the June or the December version. Copy the files earth1.dds and earth2.dds to “Resources/bitmaps” in the installation directory of X-Plane. Caution: Backup the original earth1.dds and earth2.dds before you overwrite them!
If you like our work and if you are interested to know more about our Antarctica4XPlane project, then please visit our website.
This Planet Map Replacement comes exclusively for X-Plane, for free and personal use only, but without guarantee and warranty. You are not allowed to republish it. Please report violations to maps2xplane via a personal message in the x-plane.org forum.
