SOMETHING ABOUT BEING AN ATC

I’ve been an ATC on other forum. And I prefer to be an ATC than a polit . I have no intertests in flying. But the regulation said that anyone who wants to be an ATC must be a polit first. I’m really not satisfied with it. And I firmly believe that everyone can be a perfect ATC if he/she works really hard, And the most important is that it must be intertested in being an ATC. We make the rules and we should make them work for us,not the other way round.

Hi Ryan,

The reason why we request applicant has at least 50 hour pilot experience is that we need to make sure that you have the basic knowledge of flying online and the phraseology of radiotelephony communication. I am sorry for any inconvenience that it has brought to you, and we are looking forward to seeing you in our ATC team, after you fullfill the requirement. Regards, Han Cui Deputy Director of VATSIM P.R.China Division.

Ryan,

I am agree with your idea, many real-world controllers are not certified pilot or do not have flying experience, but that do not interfere them being professional and knowledgeable in air traffic controlling and aviation.

And I do believe that as soon as you can show your controlling experience and knowledge, related staff of divisions will glad to give you certain ATC certification.

Hope see you on your post and serve soon.

Cheers,

Yang

But they emphasized that I must have at least 50 hours pilot experience.  It seems that they don’t want to make any difference.

Hi Ryan,

50-hour-pilot-experience at VATSIM is REQUIRED for all applicants who want to become ATC at VATPRC. There is NO exception.

Hi Muxi,

Providing ATC service in VATSIM is quite different from doing that in real world. We have explained why we require applicants to have 50 hours pilots experience before applying ATC on Becoming a controller. Please refer to the article for more information.
